RAD Introduces Advanced TDM Path Management Tool to Maximise Availability of Mission-Critical Applications

1 June 2004: RAD Data Communications has introduced version 2.1 of its RADview Service Center TDM (RV-SC/TDM), a superior path management system that performs end-to-end TDM circuit provisioning in a point-and-click fashion.
RV-SC/TDM features an automatic path protection feature that helps maximise the availability of mission-critical applications. In case of a failure in a network resource (such as a link or node), RV-SC/TDM automatically employs a set of pre-defined, user-selected rules (path priority, for example).
In contrast to the more common element management systems offered by many other vendors, RAD’s RV-SC/TDM provides automated network restoration in seconds, rather than in minutes or even hours, guaranteeing minimal network downtime and fast disaster recovery. “RV-SC/TDM represents a technology leap for RAD in terms of network management,” states Ilan Tevet, RADview Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. “RV-SC/TDM is the software necessary to maximise existing TDM hardware, allowing customers to better utilise their TDM networks,” Tevet explains. “For a nominal increase in cost, customers can now extend the capabilities of their RADview element manager, and complement it with superior path management functionality.”

Especially Suited for a Distributed Topology

RV-SC/TDM version 2.1 utilises an advanced security management module developed by RAD in response to requests from customers. The RAD solution is especially suited for a distributed topology uniting local offices that require partitioning to provision services only across their own specific domains.
RV-SC/TDM can be used in deploying RAD’s DXC line of multiservice access nodes, Megaplex multiservice access multiplexers, the FCD family of universal multiservice network termination units (NTUs) and the Optimux-T3 multiple E1/T1 PDH fibre multiplexer.
