PacketLight Networks Joins the RAD Group

RAD Will Cooperate on Joint Development of New SAN Products

19th August 2004: PacketLight Networks, a developer of multi-service optical transport and access systems for metro area networks, has joined the RAD Group as its fifteenth member company.
"The RAD Group is continuously looking for new innovative technology and new market segments," noted Yehuda Zisapel, President of the RAD Group. "With PacketLight, we have found a leading technology in the area of storage and data extension and we are pleased to add them as a company in the RAD Group."
Privately held and backed by venture capital, PacketLight Networks is a provider of multi-service optical transport and access systems for telecommunications service providers and enterprises that require high-speed data services for storage and data applications. PacketLight's range of products for storage and data over SONET/SDH employ the latest GFP/VCAT and FC-BB standards and DWDM/CWDM. The company's solutions allow carriers and enterprises to use existing SDH/SONET and CWDM/DWDM networks to extend high-speed storage and data services such as Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, FICON and ESCON over large distances – without performance degradation – and in variable sub-rates.
"RAD Data Communications is proud to welcome our newest sister company," stated Efraim Wachtel, RAD's President and CEO. "We look forward to cooperating with PacketLight in developing several new products that will allow us to jointly expand our customer and technological base."
RAD Ventures, a venture capital fund that serves as an investment plan for employees of RAD Data Communications, is a partner in PacketLight Networks.
"We are excited to join the RAD Group and benefit from the business, marketing and technology aspects that will come from being a part of this successful group of companies," added Yaki Luzon, acting CEO and VP Marketing of PacketLight Networks.
