RAD’s Vmux family of voice trunking gateways lets carriers and enterprises reduce network costs by transporting converged data and compressed voice traffic – irrespective of signaling and protocols – over IP, MPLS, Ethernet, or TDM networks. Employing state-of-the-art voice compression algorithms along with silence suppression techniques and RAD’s patented TDMoIP technology, Vmux solutions offer a bandwidth-efficient alternative to VoIP. The Vmux provides up to a 16:1 voice compression ratio, using 60% less bandwidth than VoIP while offering toll quality voice.
RAD’s TDMoIP pseudowire technology performs circuit emulation over next-generation infrastructure, featuring transparent support for any standard or proprietary signaling protocol (such as SS7, ISDN PRI, Q.Sig, and DPNSS).
Vmux products are used whenever it is vital to reduce bandwidth consumption, such as when connecting call centers, international voice trunking, and in cellular backhaul and satellite operations. This eliminates the need for expensive E1/T1 voice connections between locations.
In addition to voice trunking, the Vmux family includes support for A-bis and A-ter optimization to reduce the cost of cellular backhaul in 2G and 2.5G networks.
