RAD’s Optimux terminal multiplexers enable service providers to easily extend the reach of their networks toward remote or suburban business parks and industrial areas, increasing revenues accordingly, while reducing Opex and Capex. As an alternative to costly, high-end SDH/SONET add-drop multiplexers (ADMs), Optimux terminal multiplexer products significantly reduce Opex and Capex by leveraging existing broadband infrastructure such as coax, fiber and radio links to fan out multiple E1/T1 or E3/T3 services at the edge of the network.
Optimux products combine the high capacity of ADMs with the simplicity, cost-effectiveness and small footprint of terminal multiplexers. The low cost, plug-and-play units require minimal configuration, if any, yet feature high levels of reliability supporting the robustness necessary for carriers and service providers.
Hardware redundancy is designed into the system, and 1+1 redundancy is provided for all user interfaces via an optional hot-swappable multiplexer card. 1+1 redundancy is also provided for the main STM-1/OC-3 link.
