The modular, scalable carrier-class Gmux-2000 can be equipped with up to seven voice compression modules, each equivalent to one full Vmux-2100 voice trunking gateway, which can compress up to 16 full E1 lines (496 voice channels) over a single E1 link. Fitted with seven such modules, the Gmux-2000 supports up to 3,472 separate voice channels in the smallest available form factor with no single point of failure.
RAD’s patented TDM over IP (TDMoIP®) technology, implemented in the Gmux-2000 as a multiplexing mechanism, provides a major advantage over voice over IP (VoIP) solutions by enabling a higher compression ratio over long-haul segments while being completely transparent to all existing TDM features. “In contrast with standard VoIP gateways, RAD’s Gmux-2000 solution requires no forklift upgrades in existing networks or any retraining of field technicians,” Wachtel concludes. “With the Gmux-2000, there are no hidden costs waiting down the line.”
