13th November 2007: RAD Data Communications' EtherAccess solutions have been certified by Iometrix, the networking industry's preeminent testing authority, as fully compliant with the Metro Ethernet Forum's MEF-9 and MEF-14 Ethernet service standards. "Access networks are characterised by multiple technologies and physical media, and that underscores the importance of requiring a uniform Ethernet delivery solution," explains Ron Agam, Senior Product Line Manager at RAD Data Communications. "With the granting of MEF-9 and MEF-14 certification to RAD's Ethernet access solutions, carriers can rest assured that they will be able to deliver uniform Ethernet services across their infrastructure, be it DSL, PDH, SDH, or fibre," he adds. The RAD products certified by Iometrix as compliant with MEF standards are the ETX family of Ethernet network termination units (E-NTUs), the RICi series of Ethernet-over-E1 and Gigabit Ethernet-over-STM-1 NTUs, Egate channelised Ethernet gateways, IPmux TDM pseudowire gateways, and the company's Link Access Ethernet first mile (EFM) DSL access devices. MEF-9 certification confirms Ethernet service conformity at the user network interface (UNI), where the subscriber's and service provider's responsibilities meet. MEF-14 certification complements MEF-9 by verifying standards-based Carrier Ethernet service quality.
